HELP OUT: Support Low-Income Seniors with Yard Work Many older adults living in mobile home parks are unable to keep up with yard work and outdoor maintenance due to age, illness, mobility challenges, or limited support. For some, a clean and well-maintained property is not only about comfort, but also about safety and passing inspections that may help prevent eviction. By volunteering, individuals help bring relief, dignity, and connection to underserved seniors while helping them remain safe and stable in the place they call home. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Key Responsibilities Assist seniors with light yard work and property maintenance. Help with leaf blowing, weed removal, pavement cleaning, sweeping, and general outdoor cleanup. Required Skills/Experience Perform light to moderate outdoor activity. Stand, walk, bend, sweep, or lift light items as needed. Work well with a team. Use basic tools safely and responsibly. Communicate respectfully and kindly. Maintain confidentiality regarding residents’ personal information. Treat residents and their homes with care and respect. Desired Skills/Experience No professional experience is required. Volunteers are simply asked to serve with kindness, respect, and a heart for helping older adults. Time Commitment 2 hours per scheduled visit. Onboarding Process Volunteers may be asked to complete a volunteer form and waivers. Orientation and volunteer expectations will be given before the project begins. Physical Requirements This opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where this project takes place is not wheelchair accessible. Attire Please wear clothing and protection suitable for outdoor work. A BLISS Volunteer shirt will be provided.
