Maintenance Mechanic

This role offers the opportunity to grow into a key maintenance position within a busy air duct manufacturing facility. You will support and learn from an experienced maintenance leader while working with a wide range of production equipment, including laser cutters, water jets, welders, brakes, presses, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Over time, you will be trained to take on greater responsibility and eventually oversee the maintenance function.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on a variety of manufacturing machines, including laser cutters, water jets, welders, brakes, and presses.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations.
• Carry out electrical repairs on machinery and related systems as needed.
• Service, repair, and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic equipment used in the manufacturing process.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machines and equipment to extend their lifespan and improve reliability.
• Assist the current maintenance lead with daily maintenance tasks while learning facility systems and processes in depth.
• Document repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment issues clearly and accurately.
• Collaborate with production staff to identify equipment problems and prioritize maintenance work.
• Follow safety procedures and best practices when working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge to prepare for eventually taking over broader maintenance responsibilities.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience performing mechanical repairs on industrial or manufacturing equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machines and systems operate.
• Hands-on experience with troubleshooting equipment issues in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform basic to intermediate electrical repairs on machinery.
• Practical experience working with hydraulic systems, including repair and maintenance.
• Practical experience working with pneumatic systems, including repair and maintenance.
• Experience in maintenance work within a manufacturing or production setting.
• Capability to perform preventive maintenance tasks and follow maintenance schedules.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety when working with tools, machines, and industrial equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with laser cutters, water jets, welders, brakes, and presses in a manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with various types of machinery.
• Ability to learn from strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
• Effective communication skills to work closely with production teams and share maintenance information.
• Willingness to perform both reactive repairs and planned preventive maintenance.
• Adaptability to work with different technologies, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Work Environment

You will work in a busy production environment surrounded by a variety of manufacturing equipment such as laser cutters, water jets, welders, brakes, presses, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The facility can be warm during the summer and cooler in the winter, with fans used to circulate air and improve comfort throughout the shop. The setting is hands-on and industrial, requiring appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing floor and adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
