1:1 LPN

LPN or RN Position at Desert Sunset

SMUSD is looking for a 1:1 LPN or RN at Desert Sunset. Minimum requirement is LPN certification. Position would be working directly with one student in a classroom setting. Employee would also need to ride the bus to and from school with the student. SMUSD operates on a 4 day work week (Tuesday - Friday) at $21.25/hour. SMUSD is an equal opportunity employer.

Position Summary

To provide health services for the assigned work site. To assist the administration in developing and providing school health programs. To maintain appropriate, accurate, and required student health records; and to coordinate and work with school nurses at other work sites. To administer and deliver direct health services to assigned students requiring specialized plan of care which maximizes student attendance and participation in the fullest possible educational opportunity at school.

Position Qualifications and Education Requirements

1. Must have a valid Arizona Licenses Practical Nurse 2. Valid CPR/First Aid Card or certificate 3. Prefer experience working in a school setting preferred

Role and Responsibilities

1. Assists the administrator in developing school health programs.

2. Aids in primary prevention and control of communicable diseases.

3. Coordinates and implements health screenings mandated by state law.

4. Maintains health records for each student including immunizations, health screens, and present or chronic health conditions and documentation of treatment and medication.

5. Visits students' homes when necessary.

6. Assists school personnel in maintaining environmental standards in school.

7. Works with community agencies to provide improved health services 8. Participates in professional organizations and educational programs.

9. Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.

10. May provide First Aid/CPR certification training to staff.

11. Instructs teachers on screening students for health problems.

12. Serves as a liaison between health professionals and the school system regarding the health needs of students.

13. Reports and/or assists with child abuse and neglect calls to Child Protective Services.

14. Recommends exclusion and readmission of students in compliance with Board policy on infections and contagious diseases.

15. When requested, provides effective in-service education on health-related topics for school system personnel.

16. Adheres to rules, regulations and Board policy of the District.

17. Speaks to PTO and faculty groups as requested.

18. Other job-related duties as assigned.
