About Crop Fertility Services

Crop Fertility Services exists to Fix Our Food Chain from the Root Up through Soil Health

Solutions. We are a growing agricultural company committed to helping farmers improve soil

health, profitability, and long-term sustainability.

We are seeking a Fractional Controller & FP&A Specialist to strengthen our accounting and

finance functions, expand our financial planning and analysis capabilities, and create capacity

for the CFO to focus on strategic priorities that drive growth and long-term value creation.

This role combines technical accounting expertise, financial analysis, forecasting, process

improvement, leadership development, and strategic decision support. The successful

candidate will help develop our Office Manager into a future Controller while building scalable

financial systems, reporting capabilities, and decision-support tools that support the company's

continued growth.

At CFS, we are a small but growing team, which means everyone’s work matters. We value

people who think beyond the transaction, communicate clearly, take ownership, follow through,

and proactively identify opportunities to improve the business. We are looking for someone who

can turn financial information into actionable insights and help leadership make better decisions.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the accounting, financial planning, and reporting functions of the

business, including:

● Providing accounting leadership and oversight of month-end close processes,

reconciliations, and financial reporting

● Maintaining and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and financial

systems

● Assisting the CFO in preparing quarterly Board reporting packages, including financial

reporting, KPI dashboards, forecasts, and supporting analysis

● Developing and maintaining budgets, forecasts, financial models, and 13-week cash flow

forecasts

● Analyzing profitability, margins, business performance, and key operational metrics

● Creating leadership-ready reporting packages and decision-support materials that

require minimal revision or direction

● Supporting organizational growth through financial modeling, scenario planning, ROI

analysis, and strategic initiatives

● Identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and technology to improve efficiency

and reporting quality

● Mentoring and developing the Office Manager to assume increasing accounting and

Controller-level responsibilities over time

● Collaborating with team members across sales, operations, agronomy, procurement,

logistics, and leadership to better understand business drivers and improve

organizational decision-making

● Helping build scalable systems, processes, and reporting capabilities that create

capacity for the CFO to focus on organizational development, organizational structuring

and restructuring, capital raising activities, investor and lender relationship development,

business development initiatives, strategic partnerships, and long-term growth planning

Qualifications

● 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

● Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior

Accountant, or similar accounting leadership role

● Strong experience managing month-end close processes and financial statement

preparation

● Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and

financial analysis

● Experience implementing and managing multi-entity accounting environments

● Strong understanding of intercompany transactions, allocations, and consolidated

reporting

● Advanced QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) experience required

● Strong Excel, financial modeling, and analytical capabilities

● Experience developing executive-level reporting packages, dashboards, and

decision-support materials

● Ability to work independently, identify issues, develop recommendations, and execute

with minimal direction

● Strong communication and relationship-building skills

● Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and avoid working in a silo

● Ability to translate financial information into actionable insights for non-financial

stakeholders

● Positive, team-oriented attitude

Preferred but not required

● CPA designation and/or public accounting experience

● Experience with R&D tax credits and related incentive programs

● Experience implementing accounting systems, reporting tools, or process improvement

initiatives

● Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, or other operationally intensive

industries

● Experience leveraging AI tools and automation to improve efficiency, reporting quality,

and business insights

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate understands that finance & accounting does more than prepare reports and

complete transactions.

● They proactively identify opportunities, ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions,

and provide actionable recommendations.

● They understand how to package information for leadership, communicate effectively

with non-financial stakeholders, and help drive better business decisions.

● They take ownership, think critically, and understand the broader business implications

behind the numbers.

● Most importantly, they recognize that finance should serve the business; not operate

separately from it.

Work Arrangement

● Approximately 16-20 hours per week

● Expected to work onsite approximately two days per week during onboarding and

training

● Hybrid flexibility may be available following onboarding and demonstrated success in the

role, however, strong preference to be in the office as much as possible

● Potential opportunity to evolve into a larger Finance, FP&A, and strategic finance

leadership position as the company continues to grow
