Job Description The Regional Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance tasks at multiple facilities within a designated geographic area. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role includes conducting routine and emergency maintenance on building and grounds equipment, systems, and infrastructure, as well as providing support to Regional Facilities Managers as needed across all assigned sites. The Regional Maintenance Technician ensures the efficient operation of all facilities by performing or overseeing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with contractors as needed. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Routine and Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, inspections, and repairs on equipment, machinery, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other facility infrastructure across multiple locations. Follow established schedules for preventive maintenance and ensure that work is completed on time to minimize downtime. Document maintenance activities in the company’s maintenance management software (CMMS) and maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service history. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing system failures at various facilities. Repair or replace malfunctioning equipment, components, or systems to restore facility operations. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and work quickly to resolve issues that impact facility functionality or safety. Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of building and grounds systems at all assigned facilities to identify potential issues before they lead to failures or downtime. Report findings to the Maintenance Manager and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades. Assist in conducting facility audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. Coordination with Contractors as needed: Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs, installations, or inspections as needed. Provide oversight and ensure that work completed by external contractors meets quality, safety, and budget standards. Ensure that contractors follow proper safety procedures and complete work within agreed timelines. Emergency Response: Respond to urgent maintenance calls and address issues affecting business operation, safety, or facility performance across multiple sites. Work overtime or adjust work schedules as required to handle emergencies or unscheduled maintenance needs. Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Manager and facility staff to schedule maintenance activities and ensure minimal disruption to daily operations. Provide regular updates on maintenance status, completed tasks, and ongoing issues. Collaborate with facility managers and department leads to resolve facility-related issues and improve operational efficiency. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE (personal protective equipment) requirements and safety procedures during maintenance work. Ensure that work complies with local building codes, regulations, and company policies. Participate in safety training and attend periodic safety meetings to stay updated on best practices. Inventory and Resource Management: Maintain an inventory of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts for each facility. Ensure that parts and supplies are available for routine and emergency repairs, and notify the Maintenance Manager when supplies are low. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring proper calibration and safety. Minimum Skills and Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A technical or trade school certification is preferred. Proven experience (5+ years) as a maintenance technician or similar role, with hands‑on experience not limited to mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems is required. Must have basic knowledge of building systems and facility maintenance (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety systems). Ability to use diagnostic tools and maintenance management software (CMMS) is required. Must have strong problem‑solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between multiple facilities in the region. Certification in specific maintenance trades (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) is required. Experience with preventative maintenance programs and the ability to manage work orders effectively is required. Should have familiarity with safety standards and regulations in an industrial or commercial facility setting and experience in managing or coordinating third‑party contractors. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, move occasionally, and sit for an extended period throughout their scheduled working time or climb ladders, work in confined spaces, or work on roofs. The employee will be required to operate office equipment that requires repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard and may also be exposed to various environments, including industrial settings, requiring adherence to safety protocols. Occasionally, the employee may be required to lift, push, carry, move, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, and regular verbal communication to exchange information is necessary. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible. The employee may be required to work out of regular working hours on weekends and evenings to accommodate any facility needs or emergencies, and travel will be required to multiple facilities within a designated region.
