The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining the databases that support our network management systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security of critical network data.Responsibilities:Design, implement, and maintain database structures for network management systemsOptimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and schema designDevelop and maintain data models that support network inventory, performance, and fault managementImplement and manage database backup, recovery, and data migration proceduresPlan and implement database upgrades, patches, and maintenance schedules.Monitor database health, performance, and capacity, proactively addressing potential issuesDesign and implement data integration and ETL processes between NMS and other enterprise systemsEnsure data integrity and consistency across multiple NMS databasesDevelop and maintain database security policies and access controlsCollaborate with network engineers and application developers to support NMS functionalityTroubleshoot complex database issues and perform root cause analysisImplement automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasksEvaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools for NMSMentor junior database administrators and provide technical guidance to the teamDevelop and maintain documentation for database structures, procedures, and best practicesQualifications:Required:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience 10+ years of related work experienceTS/SCI with Poly requiredExpert knowledge of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB/MySQL)Strong SQL skills and experience with database performance tuningFamiliarity with network management platforms and their data requirements (e.g., Riverbed, SolarWinds, Network Node Manager)Experience with large-scale databases and high-volume data processingKnowledge of data modeling and normalization techniquesFamiliarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana).Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Shell scripting)Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesExperience with database high availability and disaster recovery solutionsDesired:Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)Familiarity with containerization and microservices architecturesExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesUnderstanding of machine learning and AI applications in network managementThis position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
