Location: Murfreesboro, TN On-Site Shift: Monday-Friday, 7AM-4:30PM Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, implement, and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for all definable features of work.
- Conduct and document daily safety inspections; submit reports to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and maintain site records.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and ensure subcontractor participation.
- Enforce 100% compliance with fall protection, PPE, infection control, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and other project-specific safety requirements.
- Coordinate with the VA Safety Officer and the Resident Engineer on all safety matters.
- Maintain and submit required records including OSHA 300/300A logs, incident reports, exposure monitoring data, and safety training logs.
- Investigate all accidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions and prepare written reports with corrective actions.
- Review and approve subcontractor safety plans, ensuring alignment with the project APP.
- Ensure required signage, barricades, and access restrictions are in place to protect VA staff, patients, and visitors during construction.
- Maintain emergency response procedures, conduct drills, and coordinate with VA fire/safety officials.
Training/Certifications:
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (required)
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification (required)
- Competent Person training in Fall Protection, Excavation, and Scaffolding (required)
- Additional VA-specific safety training (such as Infection Control Risk Assessment [ICRA]) prior to mobilization
- Strong working knowledge of EM 385-1-1, OSHA 1926, NFPA, and VA safety requirements.
- Ability to enforce safety standards with authority while maintaining collaborative relationships with the project team and subcontractors.
- Proficiency in preparing reports, maintaining logs, and using digital safety management tools.
