AVP, E&S Excess Casualty Underwriter

Leveraging our relationships with appointed wholesale brokers, we provide meaningful capacity, a consistent underwriting approach and timely coverage and claims responses. What will you be doing? We are seeking an AVP, E&S Casualty Underwriter for our E&S Casualty team supporting the West Coast. The role is intended to be located in Los Angeles, Irvine, San Francisco, Scottsdale or Denver. Duties and Responsibilities Underwrite lead and excess liability business; evaluate individual risk characteristics to determine capacity, attachment point, terms, and pricing. Maintain and enhance existing broker relationships and identify and develop new relationships both regionally and outside the territory. Adapt underwriting techniques to guidelines and rating plans to write a wide range of account sizes and operations. Develop and execute a marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new business. Operate and lead a team-based environment that includes claims, legal, and actuarial staff. Qualifications Include Strong established relationships with regional wholesale brokers and ability to move business. 8+ years of casualty underwriting experience. Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Willingness to travel as needed to support business activities. Preferred: CPCU designation and/or Surplus Lines license. Salary Range: $125,000 – 200,000. Actual compensation will depend on cost of living, qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
