ADULT DAY CENTER DIRECTOR

Reports to: Clinical Administrator/PACE Program Director

Division Director of Aging Services

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Any combination equivalent to earning a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or health care field and two (2) years of professional experience with at least one year of experience working with older adults or persons with disabilities.

SUMMARY: Plans, develops, and implements advocacy services and programs for clients and their caregivers. Provides recreational and therapeutic services to individuals attending the adult day center while providing caregiver support. Acts as liaison with supporting agencies and professionals. Problems encountered range from routine to complex in nature; significant public contact is required, and position requires independent decision-making and action. The Adult Day Center Director is responsible for the delivery of all day-to-day operations and services in the day center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversees organization, scheduling, and implementation of program services for individuals attending the day center

2. Assists in recruiting and scheduling participants and volunteers for the day center program

3. Supervises day center staff and assures orientation, training, and ongoing education for day center staff members and volunteers

4. Completes required client assessments timely, appropriately, and in compliance with both Department of Social Services and PACE regulations

5. Conducts on-going evaluations of participants' abilities, skills, and needs and will create participant-centric plans of care accordingly

6. Maintains and submits all licensure and recertifications for licensed Adult Daycare Centers including Medicaid and Veteran’s Affairs

7. Identifies, documents, and monitors factors affecting the well-being of participants

8 Monitors the development and implementation of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies that relate to adult daycare

9. Conducts publicity and outreach efforts to support growth and raise awareness of adult day center services

10. Maintains records and documentation in accordance with all policies and procedures

11. Prepares all program reports in proper format and submits to appropriate entities in timely manner

12. Assists clients with ADL’s and IADL’s as indicated and needed

13. The supervisor shall be able to walk and /or stand most of the day; to work in teaching positions or strained positions most of the day; to lift, carry or handle lightweight materials (1 – 25 pounds or client equivalent pounds) half of the day, medium weight materials (26 – 60 pounds or client equivalent pounds) frequently, heavy weight materials (over 60 pounds or client equivalent pounds) occasionally; intermittent sustained muscular exertion.

14. Performs other agency-related services as warranted

15. Attends training and continuing education activities as required

16. Fulfills day center administrative requirements such as data collection and reporting

17. Maintains equipment located in the day center

18. Upholds participant confidentiality, privacy, and compliance with HIPAA regulations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILIITIES:

1. Knowledge of the aging process and the impact of disabilities and illnesses

2. Knowledge of the challenges for geriatric individuals in long-term care or assisted living facilities along with the impact on caregivers

3. Knowledge of state and local long-term care systems

4. Knowledge of the Department of Social Services and other public benefit programs related to the geriatric population

5. Ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate budgets

6. Ability to manage team members, while organizing, planning, and implementing programs

7. Ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers

8. Strong interpersonal communications skills and analytical and problem-solving skills

9. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates

11. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public

12. Skill in interviewing, negotiation, and advocacy

13. Must demonstrate and maintain strong work ethics
