Overview Mid‑level design engineer with core responsibilities including product and system design and development. This position will be based out of the Huntersville, NC office for the Pratt Miller NASCAR program and will require onsite support. The focus will be mechanical system design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiate the lower‑level decisions. The role’s responsibilities span from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution while working within a project team under the review of a design team lead. System‑level design responsibility is expected. Essential Functions and Skills Vehicle and product system design and development. System physics modeling and characterization. CAD system and component concept development and packaging. Application of linear‑static finite element analysis in design optimization. Technical drawing generation. Prepare and present project status reports. Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R). Project support. Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project management skills. Prepare technical specifications for use by Pratt Miller Engineering. Develop testing methods and procedures for use by Pratt Miller Engineering. Investigate alternative business opportunities. Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs. Present results to and take direction from external customers. Additional Requirements Be a team player. Have great attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Education / Certification / Years of Experience Minimum 3 years engineering employment experience. BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent. Desired Specialized Skills and Knowledge Experience in NX parametric 3D modeling and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Experience in the motorsports industry. Composite, mold and tooling design and analysis experience. Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint). Physical Demands Ability to support technicians and shop builds. Operate simple hand tools. Expected Hours of Work 8 am–4 pm core (minimum) work hours (typically 45 hrs per week average). Project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines. Some travel may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off‑site training, off‑site testing, and attendance at industry conferences. Work Environment Work will typically be performed in a team‑based office environment. Pay Range $73,200.00 – $117,800.00 The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by various factors, including scope and responsibilities of the role, candidate’s experience, education and skills, as well as equity among team members in similar positions.
