- # Cloud Developer – GNOS Platform (Glenview, IL)Applylocations: IL, Glenview: IL, Chicagotime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Yesterdayjob requisition id: R28355**Cloud Developer – GNOS Platform (****Glenview, IL)**The **GNOS Cloud Developer** is part of GN’s R&D organization and designs, builds, and operates cloud-native services for the **GNOS platform** – a core foundation for our fitting software and patient-facing solutions in the US and globally.You will sit inside R&D’s product development teams, working closely with product management, architects, and application teams to create secure, scalable cloud services that enable hearing care professionals, partners, and end users to configure, fit, and manage GN hearing solutions.You will collaborate with colleagues across R&D sites in the US, Denmark, Poland, and India to ensure GNOS services are robust, observable, and easy for downstream applications (fitting tools, mobile apps, portals) to consume.**Key Responsibilities****1. Design & Development (R&D focus)*** Implement cloud-native backend services and APIs for GNOS that directly support GN’s hearing products and R&D roadmaps.* Translate product requirements and system designs into well-structured, maintainable cloud solutions with clear interfaces and versioned contracts.* Contribute to a modular platform architecture that can be reused across product lines, markets, and channels (fitting, patient apps, professional portals, partner integrations).**2. Cloud Infrastructure & Operations*** Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (e.g., ARM/Bicep/Terraform) and deployment patterns for GNOS services in **Microsoft Azure**.* Help design and implement resilient, observable services (logging, tracing, metrics, alerts) aligned with product and platform SLAs/SLOs.* Participate in operational support and incident analysis for R&D-owned cloud services, feeding learnings back into design and code.**3. Quality, Safety & Security by Design*** Apply secure coding and privacy-aware design, adhering to GN’s R&D quality system and relevant standards for health/medical contexts where applicable.* Work closely with R&D test engineers (including teams in Hyderabad/iRay and other locations) to ensure comprehensive test coverage (unit, integration, contract, performance).* Support early defect discovery by integrating tests, static analysis, and security checks into CI/CD pipelines and by designing testable services and APIs.**4. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration*** Work in agile, product-focused R&D teams that include software engineers, testers, product owners, UX, and system architects.* Participate in backlog refinement, estimation, and technical design discussions, balancing platform health with product delivery.* Collaborate effectively with client application teams (e.g., fitting software, mobile apps, portals) so GNOS services meet their functional and non-functional needs.**5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation*** Identify and help address technical debt in GNOS services, focusing on areas that unlock product innovation, performance, or reliability.* Contribute to improving the R&D development environment, including CI/CD pipelines, observability, and use of tools like GitHub and GitHub Copilot.* Stay current with cloud, platform, and health-tech trends and bring relevant ideas into the GNOS and R&D roadmaps.**Required Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.* 3–5 years of professional experience developing backend or platform services in production environments.* Direct experience with at least one major cloud provider, such as Microsoft Azure, including services like API management, databases, messaging, identity, and containers.* Proficient in programming with at least one backend language (for example, C#/.NET, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript).* Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs consumed by other R&D teams or external partners.* Practical experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and Git-based workflows (GitHub or similar).* Demonstrated focus on reliability, maintainability, and security in solution design and implementation.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience with Azure services such as Azure App Service, AKS, Azure Functions, Azure API Management, Azure SQL/Cosmos DB, Service Bus/Event Grid.* Experience with event-driven architectures or microservices in a product/R&D context.* Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., medical devices, health tech) or solid understanding of privacy and data protection requirements.* Experience with observability tooling (e.g., Application Insights, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry).* Experience working in distributed R&D teams across multiple time zones.* Familiarity with GitHub Actions, GitHub security features, and AI-based coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.**Key Skills & Behaviors (Aligned with Our Commitments)****Be a Customer Geek*** Connects platform and R&D work to the needs of hearing care professionals, patients, and partners.* Uses data and feedback from real-world use to influence technical decisions and prioritization.**Make It Happen*** Takes ownership from design through deployment and monitoring, ensuring R&D commitments are met.* Communicates risks and trade-offs clearly and helps remove roadblocks for the team and dependent product teams.**Embrace to Win*** Contributes to a psychologically safe, inclusive R&D environment where experimentation and learning are encouraged.* Welcomes diverse perspectives and gives/receives feedback with candor and respect, across sites and disciplines.**Success Measures*** Stability and performance of GNOS services supporting R&D products (SLA/SLO adherence, incident metrics).* Quality outcomes (defect density, escaped defects, test coverage, reduced rework).* Contribution to on-time, high-quality delivery of R&D product milestones and platform increments.* Measurable improvements in platform health and developer experience (reduced tech debt, improved observability, smoother releases).* Positive feedback from R&D peers, product stakeholders, and consuming teams (fitting, mobile, portals).**Pay Transparency Notice*** The target annual compensation for this position can range from $95,000.00 – 125,000.00, with a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of the fiscal year-end.* Compensation for roles at GN depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to location, role, skill set, and level of experience* To remain competitive, GN offers a competitive benefits package, including annual bonuses, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid vacation and holidays.**We encourage you to apply**We highly value a mindset and motivation that aligns with our core values, to not only ensure growth for you, but for your team and the wider GN organization as well.**We are focused on an inclusive recruitment process**All applicants will receive equal consideration for employment.
