The Cook II is an experienced culinary team member responsible for preparing and cooking food, supporting kitchen operations, mentoring Cook I team members, and helping maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen efficiency. This role serves as an important bridge between entry-level cooks and kitchen leadership.

This role is ideal for someone who :

• Has solid kitchen experience and wants to continue developing professionally
• Enjoys mentoring less experienced team members
• Thrives during busy meal service periods
• Takes pride in food presentation and consistency
• Enjoys balancing food preparation, service, and team support responsibilities

• Preparing ingredients and executing daily food production activities
• Performing a variety of cooking techniques and meal preparation functions
• Providing guidance and support to Cook I staff
• Assisting with receiving, storage, inventory rotation, and labeling procedures
• Ensuring food quality, presentation, and service standards are met
• Maintaining sanitation, kitchen safety, and regulatory compliance standards

• Food is consistently prepared according to recipes and quality standards
• Service runs smoothly during meal preparation and meal periods
• Junior cooks receive effective coaching and support
• Inventory and food storage procedures are consistently followed
• Kitchen cleanliness and food safety remain a top priority

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Food Handler's Certification (can obtain after hire)
• Two to four years of kitchen or food service experience
• Intermediate knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations
• Ability to lift 30–50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Previous restaurant, institutional, or healthcare food service experience preferred
• CPR/First Aid and crisis de-escalation certifications preferred
• Experience training or mentoring team members preferred

A fast-paced commercial kitchen environment supporting members, guests, and staff. Ongoing adherence to food safety, sanitation, chemical safety, and workplace safety standards is essential.

• Extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, and food preparation activities
• Frequent use of knives, cooking equipment, refrigeration systems, and commercial kitchen tools
