SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER - PLANT QUALITY & SYSTEMS
ABOUT RELY
RELY is a high-growth contract manufacturing organization built by leaders who execute, own outcomes, and protect customer trust. Our leadership team has worked together for many years across multiple businesses, with a proven track record of scaling operations, growing people from within, and retaining long-term customer partnerships.
Quality at RELY is not a department or a compliance exercise. It is an operating principle embedded in how decisions are made, how work is designed, and how teams are developed. We collaborate intentionally, move with urgency, and hold ourselves to a high bar-while remaining deeply committed to developing our people and doing the right thing.
THE ROLE
The Senior Quality Engineer is a hands-on, plant-facing quality engineer and system builder responsible for ensuring quality is consistently and logically embedded into daily operations. This role acts as a visible voice of quality across the plant, helping teams make sound decisions, building practical systems that scale, and reinforcing behaviors that protect customers, associates, and the RELY brand.
The Senior Quality Engineer partners with production to define what quality inspections and controls are needed, drives decisions to closure, ensures they are followed, and leads investigations at the point of production. How time is split between the floor and system work will shift with business needs, but the expectation stays the same: when quality needs attention, this person goes to where the work is.
This position owns the execution and continuous improvement of Layered Process Audits (LPAs), ISO-based quality processes, and systematic quality checks. The role also contributes as part of a cross-functional mentoring team that identifies and develops quality capability within the production workforce.
As trust, judgment, and impact are demonstrated, this role is expected to take on increasing ownership, influence, and leadership responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hands-On Quality Engineering
RELY operates with structured collaboration and a bias for action. Decisions are made quickly with the people closest to the work, ownership is clear, and execution follows immediately. Quality decisions are supported by leadership with a clear priority on protecting the customer and the business.

Senior Quality Engineer - Build Quality That Scales
RELY is seeking a hands-on Senior Quality Engineer who wants more than a compliance role. This is an opportunity for a builder-someone who wants to shape how quality is designed into operations, influence decisions on the plant floor, and help grow people and systems that will support the business for years to come.
Our leadership team has grown with the organization, scaling multiple operations together over many years. We believe in earning responsibility, promoting from within, and backing our people when they make the right call. Quality matters here-not as a slogan, but as a daily operating expectation.
In this role, you will act as a plant-level voice of quality, working directly on the floor and partnering closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance to ensure quality checks are logical, risk-based, and effective. You will define inspection requirements, lead root cause investigations, own LPAs, maintain ISO-based quality processes, and help transform tribal knowledge into practical systems that make doing the right thing easier every time.
You will also play a meaningful role in developing internal quality capability. Working as part of a mentoring team, you will help identify production associates with strong quality aptitude and support their growth into QA roles-building a sustainable quality bench from within.
This role is designed for someone who thrives in high-performing environments. We move fast. We collaborate directly. We expect ownership and follow-through. We support each other, own our mistakes, and take pride in winning together. If you are energized by responsibility, accountability, and the chance to build something that lasts, RELY offers a rare opportunity to grow alongside a proven leadership team.
This is not a slow, siloed, or desk-bound quality role. It is a hands-on, visible, and influential position with real upside for the right individual.
If you are ready to step into a role where quality is taken seriously, leadership is stable, and growth is earned-RELY would like to meet you. #indmfg

- Work on the production floor daily, partnering with supervisors, operators, and maintenance to resolve quality issues in real time
- Partner with production to define inspection and in-process check requirements, including first article inspections, and ensure they are consistently followed
- Perform sample inspections and measurements when needed, and own gauge R&R / MSA
- Lead containment decisions and disposition of nonconforming material with production, including quarantine, sorting, and MRB
- Develop and own PPAP submissions, control plans, and PFMEAs for new and changing parts, and drive their implementation with production
- Serve as a consistent, respected voice of quality across the plant
- Integrate quality considerations into daily production and operational decisions
- Escalate risk early when customer, associate, or brand impact is possible
- Reinforce quality expectations through influence, clarity, and collaboration
- Own, run, and continuously improve the Layered Process Audit (LPA) system
- Ensure LPAs are practical, risk-based, and drive real behavior change
- Coach supervisors and leaders on effective audits, findings, and follow-through
- Track audit results, corrective actions, and systemic trends to closure
- Own and maintain ISO-based quality processes and documentation
- Ensure the quality system remains practical, current, and aligned with operations
- Support internal and external audits as required
- Drive continuous improvement of the quality management system
- Create, refine, and standardize procedures, work instructions, and visual controls
- Convert tribal knowledge into repeatable, trainable processes
- Design interim and permanent controls that make producing a quality part easier every time
- Balance speed, rigor, and practicality when building systems
- Lead root cause investigations involving operators, maintenance, engineering, and leadership
- Respond to customer complaints and own 8D / corrective action responses
- Facilitate collaborative corrective action discussions grounded in facts and data
- Ensure corrective actions are effective, sustained, and incorporated into standard work
- Identify production associates with strong quality aptitude and leadership potential
- Participate as part of a cross-functional mentoring team to develop internal QA talent
- Support training, coaching, and skill development tied to quality ownership

WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
This role is well-suited for a high-performing Quality Engineer who:
- Thrives in fast-paced, high-expectation environments
- Is comfortable working alongside strong, opinionated leaders
- Takes ownership without needing handholding
- Can balance urgency with sound judgment
- Enjoys building systems and developing people
- Is energized by accountability, responsibility, and growth
This role is not a fit for individuals who:
- Prefer narrow, siloed responsibilities
- Avoid difficult conversations or escalation
- Rely solely on standards rather than judgment
- Need perfect clarity before taking action
- Are seeking a low-pressure or highly structured environment
- Prefer to manage quality from an office rather than being present on the production floor
- 5-7 years of hands-on quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001; IATF exposure a plus
- Experience building or improving quality systems and controls
- Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics
- Hands-on experience with measurement equipment and inspection methods
- Working knowledge of core quality tools: SPC, MSA, PFMEA, control plans, PPAP, and 8D / root cause analysis
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and comfortable learning new software, including ERP and quality systems
- Track record of working on the shop floor alongside production teams, and comfort partnering with leadership
- Strong follow-through and execution discipline
