Director of Undergraduate Admissions

ELIGIBILITY : Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the United States on or before the confirmed start date. This includes being a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident, or a foreign national with work authorization that doesn't require employer sponsorship. Individuals must maintain this eligibility throughout employment.

Position Summary:

This position has primary responsibility for overseeing recruitment of new undergraduate students to Brenau University in assigned programs and oversight of the undergraduate recruiting team based at the historic Gainesville campus site.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Hires, trains and supervises members of the Undergraduate Admissions team at the historic Gainesville campus site.
  • Works collaboratively with the VPEM and key stakeholders to analyze previous results, to meet new undergraduate enrollment goals and make strategic modifications to recruitment plans as they relate to competitor and environmental challenges, in supporting the Brenau Strategic Plan via the division's Strategic Enrollment Plan.
  • Ensure that communication flow to undergraduate prospects and applicants is efficient and effective.
  • Works with the VPEM to establish data-driven funnel goals for first-year and transfer students, including all funnel territory goals; Monitors goal progress and make mid-course corrections to ensure that recruitment goals are met.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, manages and professionally develops select staff in the Admissions Office, Welcome Center and Admissions events; ensures that all policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
  • Responsible for developing an annual recruitment plan, in conjunction with the Assistant Directors, for undergraduate Admission Counselors for travel planning, policies, talking points, value statements, recruitment presentations and auxiliary responsibilities.
  • Establishes undergraduate admissions criteria and manages the application review process for first-year and transfer applicants.
  • Manages the undergraduate admissions, welcome center and events budgets.
  • Manages the Admissions travel calendar and travel budget.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Admissions Events and the Welcome Center Coordinator, supervises the planning and logistics of events and campus visits.
  • Determines scholarship recipients and collaborates with the AVP of Financial Aid to ensure timely awarding of new students.
  • Responsible for overseeing the accurate tracking of school and site visits, campus visits, goal progress and other recruitment related statistics in the Slate CRM; prepares regular reports on activities, funnel progress, visitor/event attendance and the effectiveness of the admissions communications flow.
  • Engage with school counselors and community leaders to strengthen relationships and enhance Brenau's visibility.
  • Work with vendors on projects such as student search and scholarship/yield campaigns.
  • Participate in strategy sessions and tracking calls relating to scholarships and financial aid awarding.
  • Provides weekly reports to the VPEM regarding recruitment events, funnel activity and qualitative feedback on goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates with faculty and other administrative offices to ensure a smooth enrollment and onboarding process and provides for effective coordination and interaction within the department and other units and offices of the university.
  • Works with faculty and staff to ensure that all recruitment, value and yield messaging is consistent with the Brenau brand.
  • Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on the Enrollment Leadership team and on university committees, task forces and special assignments.
  • Ensures that the Office of Undergraduate Admissions adheres to institutional policies and procedures, federal and state regulations and the ethical standards of the NACAC and other professional associations.
  • Maximizes the use of technology, particularly the Slate CRM platform to improve efficiency and enhance data-driven decision-making; Remains current on emerging trends, innovative management tools, the competitive landscape and admission best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Basic Expectations:
  • Must provide the prospective students the highest level of customer service and support while abiding by the policies of Brenau University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
  • Must arrive punctually (8:30 unless approved/assigned by supervisor).
  • Must dress professionally.
  • Must foster an atmosphere of positive teamwork.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
Judgment:
  • Must possess the ability to recognize the appropriate procedure to apply to each situation encountered.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of student records and conversations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise, manage, and motivate the undergraduate recruiting team to achieve departmental goals.

Work Hours:
Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. Nights/weekends as needed.


Appointment Length:

12 months, continuous


Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Able to travel as needed.

Must be able to operate and drive a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to travel short distances. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Title IX Implications:

Responsible employee
Any employee who is not a confidential employee. Brenau University requires that all Responsible Employees MUST report any possible sexual harassment or discrimination based on sex to the Title IX Coordinator when the employee has information about conduct that reasonably may constitute sex discrimination or sex-based harassment under Title IX or this part. Employees are encouraged to report these concerns in writing via email. When an employee or a student (or a person who has a legal right to act on behalf of a student) informs any employee (including both Responsible and Confidential employees) of the employee's or student's pregnancy or related conditions, that employee must promptly provide that person with the Title IX Coordinator's contact information and inform that person that the Title IX Coordinator can coordinate specific actions to prevent sex discrimination and ensure the employee's or student's equal access to the Recipient's education program or activity.

Salary- Exempt (paid bi-weekly)

This is an on-site position based at the Historic Gainesville Campus located in Gainesville, Georgia.

Frequent travel required, mostly domestic.

Occasional overnight stays.


Ability to travel throughout an assigned recruiting territory, which requires frequent driving. Due to insurance requirements, employees operating university vehicles or performing any driving activity in one's own personal vehicle for Brenau purposes must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Georgia driver's license, and maintain a clean driving record.

Special Requirements:

Brenau University conducts various screenings to ensure a safe and secure environment. These checks are a condition of employment and may be performed at different times throughout employment. (1) Background Checks: All new hires must undergo a criminal background check. To maintain employment, individuals must have and maintain a favorable criminal history. The university may also conduct random background checks. Additional checks may be performed for certain roles. (2) Credit Checks: required for positions that handle university funds or credit cards or as otherwise required. (3) Motor Vehicle and Driving Checks: employees who operate a university vehicle or drive on university business must have a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) run as part of the new hire process or as the requirement to drive is added to job responsibilities. To be approved for university travel, employees must meet the following criteria: be at least 21 years old, have and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license, and have and maintain a good driving record. As a condition of employment, employees must report any arrest (within five days of its occurrence) to the Office of Human Resources, including traffic violations for those listed on our auto insurance policy. Disclosure of subsequent legal action (conviction, dismissal of charges, etc.) must also be reported to the Office of Human Resources. It will be evaluated considering continued employment with the immediate supervisor. (4) Drug Screening: pre-employment/post-offer drug screens and random drug screens are performed for certain sensitive positions. Random drug screens are also performed on those who travel regularly, or those who operate a university vehicle. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

Proof of any professional degree, license, or certification (collectively, "Credentials") required to competently perform the work for which the employee is hired must have been submitted at the time of application for the position. Discovery during the course of employee's employment that applicable Credentials have lapsed, been terminated, were misrepresented, or were falsified may result in immediate termination of employee's employment.
