Sales Representative- Western Massachusetts

Job Description:

We are a prestigious mid-sized fine wine importer and distributor serving the state's best restaurants and retail stores for over 30 years. Our portfolio includes top producers from some the world's most important appellations as well as value selections of high quality that truly stand out in their respective categories. Some of our most successful Account Managers have come from diverse occupations not related to the wine field yet they had a passion for fine wine.

The position requires a passion and basic knowledge of both domestic and imported wines, but more importantly, a strong work ethic, a desire to succeed, and a creative approach to problem solving. You must be a self-starter, highly motivated and possess the ability to manage time effectively and service your accounts. Candidates should also possess solid communication and negotiating skills and the ability to plan and execute sales strategies both independently and as part of our team.

Responsibilities will include:

1) Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients.
2) Expanding our list of customers within the territory through cold calling and targeted marketing of on- and off-premise accounts.
3) Collecting payments when necessary.
4) Delivering products to customers when required.
5) Supporting clients at promotional events including evenings and weekends.
6) Ensuring that sales goals are met.

Requirements include:

A) First and foremost a demonstrated passion for wine.
B) A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, a good enough driving record that allows you to be added to our corporate insurance policy and the ability to retain the same.
C) The ability to obtain and retain a Massachusetts Alcohol Salesperson's Permit and the ability to retain the same.
D) The ability to lift 40 pounds of weight repeatedly.
E) Smartphone and home Internet access.
F) Professional appearance and pleasant personality.
G) Proficiency in e-mail and Microsoft Office.
H) Reside in the territory at the time of application. This is a firm requirement.
I) On premise and/or retail knowledge helpful.
J) The maturity to work effectively independently without being micro-managed.
K) Submitting reports of those accounts visited and their feedback.
L) College degree strongly preferred.
