Job Title: Operating Room Surgical Technician

Description:
The unit features 4 beds in the main Operating Room and 8 beds in a separate pavilion.
The nurse to technician ratio is 1:1.
Charge nurses do not take patients or cases.
Scrub technicians are utilized in the unit.
Weekend coverage is not required.
Holidays are covered on a call basis.
Scrub color is provided.
Call responsibility is one shift per week and every fourth weekend.
Shifts have variable start times between 6 AM and 9 AM.
Evening and weekend shifts are not required.
Floating to other units is not necessary.
Orientation consists of one week of paperwork and one week partnered with a preceptor.
Common cases include orthopedic surgeries such as total hip and knee replacements.
The pavilion handles neurology, orthopedic spine, cardiovascular cases, as well as general, gynecology, urology, and ENT cases.
The caseload is typically 15-25 cases per day or about 400 cases per month.
Approximately 20-25% of cases are for inpatients.
Cardiovascular cases and robotic procedures are available only for individuals with appropriate experience.
Patients who are critically ill will be transferred directly to the intensive care unit after surgery.
Preference will be given to those who have worked with Cerner Surginet.
Anesthesiology services are provided by anesthesiologists without the use of CRNAs.
It is important to note the particular processes within the Operating Room.
The facility prefers contracts of 26 weeks when possible.
Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled as outlined.
Charting is done using Cerner.
