This role offers consistent weekday hours with the opportunity to work rotational Saturdays, providing a stable schedule in a supportive environment.Responsibilities– Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring patient comfort and safety – Label specimens accurately, match requisition forms to samples, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing – Collect, store, and transport specimens while adhering to established protocols and temperature requirements – Explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients across diverse demographics – Operate centrifuges, record maintenance data, and ensure all laboratory equipment is properly decontaminated and maintained – Follow OSHA and DEP regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE and practicing safety procedures – Attend annual department training sessions to stay current with industry standards and best practices – Answer patient inquiries and read laboratory results to provide timely information – Assist with miscellaneous duties as assigned to support laboratory operationsRequired Skills– Proven experience performing blood draws in a clinical or laboratory setting – Knowledge of specimen labeling, centrifuging, and storage techniques – Ability to accurately match laboratory requisitions with specimens and document procedures – Strong attention to detail to ensure specimen integrity and correct testing procedures – Good communication skills to clearly explain procedures to patients – Comfortable working with various needles and specimen collection methodsAdditional Skills & Requirements– High school diploma or equivalent; formal phlebotomy certification preferred – Experience working with electronic medical records and specimen tracking – Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations related to laboratory safety and specimen handling – Flexibility to work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, with rotational Saturday shifts from 9 am to 2 pm – Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy and patient care quality – Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical laboratory environment is preferred but not requiredThis is an excellent opportunity to utilize your phlebotomy skills and grow within a supportive healthcare team.
