Employee Type FT Non-Exempt Clarinda Regional Health Center is looking for a Part-Time or Full-Time Licensed Esthetician to work in our Med Spa department! Operating hours are Tuesday - Friday from 8:00am - 6:00pm. Schedules may vary. PRIMARY FUNCTION The Licensed Esthetician provides professional esthetic services that support skin health, wellness, and client satisfaction while prioritizing Safety and Quality in every aspect of care. Services are performed within the individual's scope of practice, training, competency, CRHC policies, and established Glow Medical Spa protocols. The Licensed Esthetician assesses client needs, provides education and appropriate esthetic services, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates with the medical spa team to promote a safe, coordinated client experience. The position supports the organization's commitment to Advancing Exceptional Care. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience Graduate of an esthetics program that meets State of Iowa licensure requirements. Previous experience in a medical spa, dermatology, plastic surgery, wellness, or esthetic setting is preferred. Certificates, Licensure, Registrations Current license to practice esthetics in the State of Iowa. Maintain required continuing education, training, and competency for services performed. For job-specific certifications refer to the Education Certification Requirements by Job Category: WORK SCHEDULE & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS The facility operates Tuesday - Friday 8:00am - 6:00pm; however, work schedules may vary based on departmental needs to ensure the highest standard of client care and operational efficiency. Flexibility will be expected. Position is classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with labor laws. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS This position involves a combination of physical activities necessary to perform essential job functions effectively. The employee should be able to: Sit, stand, and walk for varying lengths of time throughout the workday. Lift, push, pull, or carry light to moderate loads, with assistance available for heavier items. Use fine motor skills, including grasping, reaching, and handling equipment or materials as needed. Perform routine movements, such as typing, writing, preparing treatment areas, or handling supplies. Bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally for job-related tasks. See and hear well enough to read documents, operate equipment, assess clients, and communicate effectively. Work in a dynamic environment, adapting to occasional changes in pace or setting. Perform esthetic services within scope of practice, training, competency, and approved Glow Medical Spa protocols. Conduct appropriate skin assessments and review client goals, history, allergies, medications, contraindications, and prior treatments before services. Provide services such as facials, HydraFacial treatments, superficial chemical peels, and other approved esthetic treatments permitted by licensure and organizational policy. Modify or discontinue services when contraindications, adverse responses, or client concerns are identified. Refer clients to the medical provider or treating clinician when assessment findings or requested services fall outside the Esthetician's scope of practice. 2. Client Education & Treatment Planning Educate clients regarding treatment expectations, skin care, aftercare, potential reactions, sun protection, and recommended follow-up. Develop individualized esthetic treatment recommendations consistent with client goals and scope of practice. Provide education regarding approved skin care products and appropriate home-care regimens. Ensure clients have an opportunity to ask questions and understand the planned service and aftercare instructions. 3. Safety, Infection Prevention & Treatment Room Standards Follow hand hygiene, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization when applicable, and infection prevention procedures. Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, products, and supplies before each service and maintain a clean and organized environment. Follow product manufacturer instructions, contraindications, safety precautions, and CRHC policies. Recognize unexpected reactions or complications, stop treatment when appropriate, and promptly notify the medical provider or treating clinician according to established procedures. 4. Documentation, Consent & Compliance Verify required consents are completed prior to treatment and document services, products used, client response, education, and follow-up accurately and timely. Obtain and maintain before-and-after photographs when applicable and authorized. Maintain confidentiality and comply with CRHC privacy, documentation, and record-retention requirements. Practice within applicable Iowa law, professional standards, CRHC policies, and Glow Medical Spa procedures. 5. Client Experience, Retail & Operational Support Provide a welcoming, professional, and respectful client experience. Collaborate with nursing, medical providers, massage therapy, and other Glow Medical Spa team members to coordinate services. Assist with scheduling, room readiness, inventory, supply oversight, retail displays, and daily workflow as needed. Provide appropriate product recommendations and support retail sales consistent with client needs and organizational practices. 6. Clinical Competency & Professional Development Maintain current knowledge of esthetic treatments, skin care products, contraindications, infection prevention, and professional standards. Participate in required education, product and equipment training, skills validation, staff meetings, and competency assessments. Quality Program Participation Actively participates in CRHC's Quality Program, committees, performance improvement initiatives, and operational support activities. Demonstrates a commitment to Quality Improvement (QI) practices. Regularly attends Department huddles. Completes tasks as outlined on the Department Huddle Board.
