Instructor, Clinical Coordinator Surgical Technology/Central Services Technology

Job Summary Indian River State College seeks an Instructor and Clinical Coordinator for the Surgical Technology and Central Services programs to ensure high-quality clinical education and student success. The role works closely with the Program Director to coordinate student clinical rotations, maintain partnerships with healthcare facilities, and provide instruction, advising, and clinical supervision in support of accreditation standards. Responsibilities & Key Duties Teach a minimum of 36 semester hours annually in lecture, lab, and clinical instruction. Plan, coordinate, and schedule student clinical rotations to align with curriculum and program outcomes. Coordinate evaluations of clinical sites and faculty/student experiences; provide feedback and updates. Maintain student clinical records and ensure compliance with accreditation and program standards. Adhere to institutional policies and communicate updates to clinical instructors. Prepare students for each rotation, ensuring all safety and learning requirements are met. Conduct regular visits to clinical sites to support academic partnerships and student success. Support student retention, credential preparation (CST), and job placement as Surgical Technologists and Central Service workers. Assist in student recruitment, admission criteria, and implementation of the current curriculum. Participate in accreditation activities and maintain program accreditation status. Serve on the Program Advisory Committee and collaborate with the Program Director on departmental planning, budget preparation, and program development. Engage in department, college committees, projects, and initiatives as assigned. Continuously pursue formal training to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements Associate’s degree in any field. Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program. Current NCCA-accredited surgical technology credential (e.g., CST, TS‑C). Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical or instructional experience in the field (within the past five years). Demonstrated experience in operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology. Familiarity with the AST Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology and the current Central Services curriculum. Physical Demands Ability to sit and stand for extended periods; present lectures/demonstrations; walk, bend, lift, reach, stoop, and occasionally carry items exceeding 25 pounds; manual dexterity required for standard office equipment. Compensation and Employment Details Pay rate: $56,740.00. Position is open until filled. Employment type: Full‑time faculty with benefits (fixed term). Classification: Instructional Supervisory (non‑exempt FLSA). Status: Practice faculty.
