Food Service Aide

Position Summary

The Food Service Aide supports the dietary team in all aspects of meal preparation, service, and sanitation to ensure high-quality food service for residents at all times. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
ServSafe certification preferred
Basic math skills required
Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment

Key Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, cooking, and baking in accordance with recipes, special diets, and direction from the Cook/Baker
Set up dining areas, take orders, serve food and beverages, and provide excellent customer service
Bus tables, wash dishes, and clean/sanitize dining and kitchen areas
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans
Sweep and mop floors to ensure a safe and sanitary workspace
Review menus and work orders to determine food quantities and preparation needs
Prepare items in advance, including freezer pulls and next-day meal prep
Transport hot and cold food safely to and from the kitchen
Follow all food safety regulations, including proper temperature logging and documentation
Assist in training new food service staff as needed
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and compliance requirements

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and team members
Ability to read and understand safety rules, menus, and instructions
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to perform repetitive tasks and use kitchen equipment safely
Work environment includes kitchens and dining areas with varying temperatures
Must use caution in potentially wet or slippery conditions

Work Environment

Indoor and outdoor temperature variations depending on work area
Exposure to kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals
Fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on resident care and service
