Medical Assistant I - Vacaville Primary Care (Full Time, Day)

Job Description At NorthBay Health the Medical Assistant I is responsible for providing direct patient care in support of a provider in an ambulatory care setting under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician. The Medical Assistant I may administer medications upon completion of medication administration course and specific supervision of a physician. Distribution of staff and patients may require reassignment to other areas. Qualifications Education :

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Program or additional class work in medication administration required.

Licensure/Certification :

• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Current AHA certification or equivalent in basic CPR.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician preferred.
• Program or additional classwork regarding medication administration required within 6 months of hire.
• MA medication administration competency checklist completion required within 6 months of hire.

Experience :

• One year of experience in ambulatory care setting preferred.
• Previous experience with medication administration.

Skills :

• Demonstrated effective time management skills.
• Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing ambulatory nursing care as appropriate for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Compensation Structure NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan.
