About the Position

Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician Profession: Surgical Technician Specialty: Surgical Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:45 AM - 07:05 PM Hours per Shift: 6.33 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: DaVinci XI experience is a must. Experience scrubbing posterior eye and eye trauma is a plus. Description: The surgical unit consists of two operating departments. One department has 26 rooms and is designated for level one trauma. The other department consists of a 7-room inpatient-outpatient mix. The main base will be the 7-room unit, but floating to other areas may occur as needed. The typical case load in the 7-room unit includes: General surgeries primarily involving hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and GI surgeries. Colorectal cases include open and laparoscopic bowel resections, with some robotic procedures. Gynecological surgeries encompass both oncological and benign procedures, including open, laparoscopic, robotic cases, D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, and tubal ligation. Urology cases include cystoscopies, stent placements, TURBs, TURPs, percutaneous procedures, and various nephrectomies and cystectomies. Breast surgeries involve biopsies, mastectomies with and without reconstruction. Eye surgeries occur a few times a month and include plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies. Brachytherapy includes assisting with device insertions, primarily conducted by the radiation oncology team. Plastic surgeries are usually performed in conjunction with breast or gender affirmation procedures. Uro-Gyn cases include sling placements and both anterior and posterior repairs. Robotic surgeries mostly involve urology and gynecology, with some bariatric cases. The unit typically operates Monday through Friday and often finishes by 7-8 PM. If the day ends early, floating to finish tasks in another area is expected. Obligations include two weekend call shifts per contract, with no other weekend commitments required.
