POSITION SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Technical Supervisor, provides leadership in administrative and technical functions for an area of responsibility to assist in fulfillment of the department’s mission. Work requires analytical abilities to perform and review highly complex testing defined under CLIA '88, interpret findings, perform calculations, calibrate instruments, and assist in developing sound policies and procedures. Manual/visual dexterity is needed to prepare specimens, prepare solutions, screen specimens, and operate a computer software system. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for maintaining effective contacts with physicians and patient care areas, and for providing leadership for personnel as assigned. Level: Assistant Supervisor – Laboratory Department: Phlebotomy.Schedule: Full Time, 40 Hours. (M-Th 10:30 a‑7 p, Fri 9:30 a‑6 p). JOB REQUIREMENTS Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science with successful completion of a supervised clinical internship in an approved hospital laboratory. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in an applied science (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry). Certifications / Registrations / Licensures : Preferred certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA), or an equivalent agency as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or specialty certification. Equivalent agencies include ASCP, NCA, American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), Health Education and Welfare (HEW), and American Society of Microbiologists (AMT). Experience : Minimum of 3 years in the specific area of charge or generalist experience. For Blood Bank, 3 years of experience in Blood Bank is required. Pediatric experience is preferred. Additional Requirements : Ability to perform venipuncture techniques. COMPENSATION Range: $53,000.00 – $77,000.00. This estimate reflects the minimum job qualifications and is based on Boston‑area data.
