What You Will Do Perform safety oversight of contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards during vegetation clearing activities. Assist in planning and creating vegetation clearing scopes of work to meet NERC and utility right‑of‑way standards. Contact property owners to obtain required written permission for vegetation work. Conduct QA inspections of contractor work for compliance with scope, utility, and industry specifications. Perform hazard tree assessments. Communicate daily with utility clients, contractors, landowners, and the general public. Develop a comprehensive understanding of all relevant utility and environmental standards. Complete work summaries, updated QA reports, and progress updates weekly with detailed documentation. Promote and maintain good public relations. Work storm duty following catastrophic weather events affecting the utility. Drive company vehicles safely to work locations. Assume additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. What You Need To Have 1–3 years of experience in utility vegetation management. Local tree identification skills. Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, multitasking, and detail orientation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, representing AMS professionally. Knowledge of common computer applications and willingness to learn new programs. Self‑motivated, able to work independently, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). Ability to work safely and independently in remote areas with limited supervision. Team‑based as well as independent work capabilities. Accurate map reading and spatial judgment. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. What Would Be Amazing To Have Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related discipline (preferred). 1–3 years of experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, or related green industry. ISA Arborist Certification (plus). Experience with GIS mapping programs (plus). Strong team mentality, work ethic, and pride in work (plus). Familiarity with powerline nomenclature and construction (plus). Bi‑lingual (English/Spanish) (plus). Working Environment Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban city environments; walk/hike on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions. Physical Must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movements; lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs.; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; verbally communicate; see and hear in normal range (with or without correction); operate field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
