Responsibilities: Patient Assessment:Conduct thorough head-to-toe assessments and psychosocial evaluations of patients when they arrive, determining the severity of their condition. Triage:Assign triage categories to ensure timely care based on the urgency of each patient's condition. Emergency Care:Provide care to patients of all ages, including neonates, children, adults, and geriatrics, following established protocols and guidelines. Medication Administration:Administer medications accurately while adhering to the five rights of medication administration (right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time). Supervision:Oversee the work of support staff such as Emergency Room Technicians (ERTs) and other healthcare personnel, ensuring a collaborative and efficient workflow. Patient Advocacy:Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining procedures and treatment plans to provide emotional support and education. Collaboration:Work closely with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and implement patient care plans. Infection Control:Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment to prevent infection and promote patient safety. Continuous Education:Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities, attending staff meetings, and engaging in quality improvement initiatives. Position Requirements: Two years of emergency room experience. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners for their state. Current BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC preferred Educational requirements appropriate for meeting the age-specific needs of patients presenting to the emergency center, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, including emergency procedures required for stabilizing patients of all ages. Validate clinical skills outlined in the orientation checklist and maintain annual clinical competency. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Critical Thinking:Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in emergencies. Working Conditions: Physical Demands—While performing the duties of this job, the employee must lift and move up to 50 pounds with good body mechanics and frequently stand. Walk for up to 8 hours, and frequent bending and twisting motions are required. Adverse/Hazardous Conditions - Potential injuries from physical efforts and chemical irritants.
