Purpose and Scope To manage the Installation Department and exceed customer expectations for product installation activities in an assigned area while maximizing installation margins. These tasks are accomplished through working closely with Installation Coordinators, managing subcontractors, and managing in-house installation crews. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Coordination of all installation projects, ensuring quality of work and timely completion while maximizing margins and exceeding customer expectations. Foster good communication and relationships among customers, contractors, subcontractors, Technicians, and Sales Reps. Source, select and oversee work done by subcontractors and Arbon installation crews in the assigned area. This position is responsible for successfully orchestrating all installations throughout the assigned area, ensuring promise dates are met while maximizing installation margins. This includes job scheduling, product procurement, and labor requirements planning, working in coordination with sales, administrative personnel, subcontractors, and customers. The position must maintain up-to-date technical knowledge on all products sold by the district, including commonly sold allied products, as well as major industry trends and competitive products, and will provide technical assistance to the sales department, customers, and installation teams on customer application problems, installation costs, and scheduling. This position will be responsible for assuring that all Rite-Hite product is properly applied and installed according to Rite Hite specifications. This will necessitate a close relationship with the operating companies’ applications departments as well as day to day contact with the sales organization to ensure that Rite-Hite products perform appropriately. This position is responsible for building a strong Installation Team, forecasting personnel needs for both in-house installation crews and subcontractors by trade type, to assure sufficient staff is available to meet demand while keeping costs within acceptable parameters. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing, building and maintaining relationships with subcontractors, negotiating scheduling, pricing, timing, and project management, ensuring all subcontractors meet Arbon contractor qualification criteria including safety performance and insurance coverage, and assisting in resolving job site access requirements. Planning in-house installation staffing and hiring, training and managing those personnel. Ensuring that all Technicians within the Installation Department are trained, including initial and ongoing training, progressing in the Technician Training Standard and movement through ASAPP levels. Managing safety of all Technicians in the Installation Department, working with subcontractors to ensure adequate safety training, proper equipment, periodic inspections, site safety audits, and enforcing safety policies. Completing documentation, investigating accidents, and taking corrective action. Enforcing all Company policies and performance standards, educating subcontractors on quality standards. Reviewing orders to determine which are “projects” requiring direct oversight and which can be handled by the Installation Coordinator or a Lead Technician. Reviewing contracts for scope of work, safety requirements, schedule, site specific requirements, and prevailing wage requirements. Consulting with sales staff on jobs requiring pricing outside of normal “book pricing” and providing competitive pricing balanced with installation revenue. Attending project startup meetings to ensure good communication with all parties and fostering relationships. Visiting job sites as necessary pre-sale to ensure all issues that need to be considered when quoting are accounted for. Performing job site checks as needed. Resolving problem jobs expeditiously, focusing on prompt completion meeting customer expectations and working cooperatively with all parties. Maintaining the district’s electronic installation schedule. Performing cost control activities, including review of subcontractor invoices, project profitability reviews, etc. Ensuring proper training of installation personnel and verifying performance through installation and job site spot checks. Monitoring performance on projects, including quality, safety, compliance with Arbon customer service standards, and deadlines, per AQBP. Supporting a safe and healthy workplace for Arbon employees and subcontractors, modeling safe behaviors, supporting safety training programs, conducting safety audits, and monitoring safety on job sites. Working with the Operations Manager, other Installation Supervisors, and other staff in evaluating and implementing installation improvement concepts. Supporting the service portion of the business, flexing employees and contractors between Service and Installation departments as needed, providing technical expertise to service customers and sales personnel, ensuring Service Technicians have necessary training to perform installations. Monitoring and identifying performance problems in personnel, both in-house and subcontracted, and taking a proactive approach to correcting negative behaviors. Conducting performance reviews with all direct reports each year, setting performance objectives, instilling a team atmosphere, and working with District Managers and others to maximize synergies between functions and promote teamwork. This position may require some (20%+) overnight travel throughout the district, varying by district. Education and Experience Requirements Successful individual must possess: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from four‑year college or technical school; or three or more years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in construction management preferred. An in‑depth knowledge of Rite‑Hite products is required. Must be able to read and understand all documents pertaining to project planning. CAD proficiency helpful. Knowledge / Skill Requirements Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Supervisory Responsibilities Includes sourcing and management of subcontractors, and directly managing in‑house installation teams and specialists (electricians, etc.) primarily assigned to installation coordination. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
