Job Description Summary
MUSC is seeking a dedicated and skilled nurse for our high-volume Admissions Transfer Center. This elite team of professionals is the hub for all admissions and transfers across our 16-hospital system in South Carolina and manages approximately 2000 beds, coordinating approximately 1500 transfers monthly and 1000 phone calls daily. The RN will be a key contact, facilitating patient transfers to MUSC hospitals from MUSC as well as non-MUSC facilities. This position collaborates with our Patient Placement representatives and acts as a clinical resource and facilitator. The RN will utilize technology for multi-faceted communications and apply nursing knowledge derived from education and experience. This position will help direct transfers, admissions, bed requests from inpatient, outpatient, clinics, pre-admits, and requests for cardiovascular and medical/surgical services. Entity

Nights (United States of America) Job Description Meet the Team: Medical University of South Carolina Admit-Transfer Center
Minimum Training and Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to initiate education for BSN within 2 years and complete within four years of hire date. Employees are required to sign an agreement regarding the education requirement. Minimum Experience: 5 years of work experience as a Registered Nurse. Leadership experience, including Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, and/or Nurse Manager preferred. Experience with EPIC and patient flow/throughput in a call center environment preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Shift Information:

(F) Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions. (I) Ability to bend at the waist. (C) Ability to twist at the waist. (F) Ability to squat and perform job functions. (F) Ability to perform “pinching” operations. (F) Ability to perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands. (C) Ability to perform firm grasping with fingers and hands. (F) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain vision 20/40 corrected. (C) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (C) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (C) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (C) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (C) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (C) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (C) Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. (C) Ability to work rotating shifts. (F) Ability to work overtime as required. (F) Ability to work in a latex safe environment. (C) *Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
