VP/Director of Finance

Job Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP/Director of Finance based in the Akron area. The chosen candidate will assume a pivotal role in our financial operations, with a focus on supervising payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role primarily entails financial planning, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing financial reports. Responsibilities Direct supervision of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure smooth financial operations. Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and future financial projections to guide strategic planning. Maintenance of fiscal records to ensure accurate financial information. Facilitation of the annual financial audit and assistance with the compilation of financial data for GAAP reporting. Preparation of monthly financial reports for internal stakeholders. Reconciliation of cash and investment accounts to the fund balance each month, overseeing investments and managing cash flow for the organization's bank accounts. Maintenance of the organization's Chart of Accounts to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of financial transactions. Preparation of necessary appropriation resolutions. Collaboration with legal advisers on the preparation of resolutions related to contracts, salaries, and other financial matters. Attendance at Finance-related meetings and events to stay abreast of industry developments and represent the organization. Qualifications Proven experience in a similar role, such as VP or Director of Finance, within a municipality or county government setting. Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) processes. Demonstrated expertise in budget processes. Familiarity with month-end close activities. Experience in Human Resources (HR) administration. Ability to implement and maintain financial policies and procedures. Strong leadership skills to guide and manage the finance team. Excellent communication skills to liaise with other departments and stakeholders. Proficiency in using financial software and creating financial reports. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Relevant professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is desirable.
