LANDSCAPING LEAD WORKER

This position requires the completion of a criminal history screening and drug screening, and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. Under the supervision of the Landscaping Foreman, performs landscaping tasks necessary to meet contract specifications. Key Responsibilities Cut lawns using hand or power mower. Trim and edge around walkways, flower beds and walls using clippers and edging tools. Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears. Rake leaves and clean or sweep up litter using spiked stick or broom. Shovel snow from walks and driveways. Spread salt on public passageways. Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs. Water lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system. Clean out drainage ditches and culverts using shovel and rake. Operate walking type power mowers, snow blowers, roto tillers or riding mowers. Operate chain saws, hedge trimmers and other hand‑held power operated tools to prune, cultivate, shovel, trim, cut and dig. Operate tractor equipped with attachments such as mowers, lime or fertilizer spreaders and lawn roller. Perform a variety of laboring duties when yard work is completed. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Qualifications The incumbent must be able to stand 33%, walk 33% and sit 33% of the work time, lift/carry/push/pull up to 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach materials and equipment. Must be alert to safety hazards, able to communicate, see and tell colors and drive equipment. Work is primarily outside, with exposure to extreme temperatures, weather, dust, dirt, fumes or flying grass blades. Qualifications At least one year of experience in landscape maintenance work, including mowing with push mower and weeding. Ability to work independently. Valid driver’s license.
