Job Opportunity

Position Overview

This position involves working three 12-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:30) with a focus on weekend coverage every other weekend. Candidates are required to have a strong background in CVICU and hold relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor's degree preferred)
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) required
• Certifications:
  
  
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Preferred Experience: Previous charge experience and familiarity with charting systems such as Community Hospital
• Travel Experience: Required

Skills Needed

• Arterial line management
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration
• Care of patients on ECMO
• Care of ventilated patients
• Central line care and management
• CVP monitoring (Central Venous Pressure)
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Ventilator management
• Additional skills related to cardiac surgery and intensive care procedures

Unit Details

The unit cares for post-sternotomy patients and those undergoing procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting and valve repair. Patients may present with various cardiovascular issues and complexities.

• Daily Census: Approximately 10 patients
• Number of Beds: 12 beds

This position requires self-scheduling with a typical patient ratio of 2 patients per nurse during days, nights, and weekends.

Additional Information

Travelers will need a minimum of 1 year of recent experience in the CVICU setting, with prior EMR experience (preferably with EPIC) required.

Mandatory orientation will take place every Monday and compliance requirements must be fulfilled prior to starting the position.
