Materials Management Specialist I - Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital

Materials Management Specialist I – Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Coordinate, administer, implement, and assist in developing the supply support system to meet patient and organizational needs. Perform tasks such as cleaning, preparing, and transporting medical equipment, requisitioning, inspecting, receiving, and stocking inventory items, and maintaining appropriate par levels. Assemble, repackage, or replenish kits, components, and carts. Replenish supplies to ensure availability. Assemble, disassemble, and label shelving and storage units. Pick up and deliver medical equipment regularly. Operate computers and equipment, using Lawson MMIS for product utilization evaluations. Recommend effective min/max levels, critical order points, and resolve zero picks. Monitor supplies for proper labeling, expiration dates, and packaging integrity. Recommend cost controls over stock inventories. Coordinate requisitions, receipts, and returns using established policies. Communicate with vendors, physicians, nurses, patients, and peers at other healthcare facilities. Participate in product evaluations and changes. Assist with new‑employee orientation and provide guidance to buyers or support staff. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; experience may be accepted in lieu of education. Experience: None required. Licensure, certification, or registration: None. Minimum Qualifications: Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, sorting, printing). Familiarity with automated procurement and inventory control systems. Ability to act independently with minimal supervision. Team player with the ability to meet short‑term deadlines. Capacity to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Adaptability to a continually changing environment.
