FT Telemedicine Optometrist Maternity Coverage: September 10, 2026 - February 15, 2027 We are seeking a California-licensed Optometrist to provide temporary full-time remote coverage during a maternity leave. This position offers the opportunity to practice from the comfort of your home while working alongside an experienced clinical support team and an established patient base. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, efficient, compassionate, and comfortable utilizing telemedicine technology to deliver high-quality patient care. Description Coachella Valley Optometry is one of the largest and fastest-growing optometric practices in Southern California, serving thousands of patients each month across multiple locations. Our mission is to provide exceptional eye care while expanding access to healthcare for underserved communities. Through our telemedicine program, we connect highly trained optometrists with patients who might otherwise experience significant barriers to receiving care. Our offices utilize advanced diagnostic technology including Optos retinal imaging, OCT, visual field testing, ERG/VEP, topography, B-scan ultrasound, and other state-of-the-art equipment to assist in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease. We care for a diverse patient population and routinely manage conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, cataracts, and other medical eye conditions. Responsibilities Perform remote comprehensive eye examinations and refractions Conduct telemedicine consultations utilizing secure video technology Review and interpret diagnostic testing and imaging Evaluate anterior and posterior segment findings Diagnose and manage ocular disease within the scope of optometric practice Collaborate with on-site technicians and support staff Coordinate referrals for in-person evaluation when clinically indicated Document patient encounters accurately and completely Qualifications Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills Comfortable utilizing telemedicine technology Spanish-speaking ability preferred but not required What We Offer Established patient schedule Dedicated in-office support staff Modern diagnostic technology Flexible remote work environment Competitive compensation Opportunity for additional coverage opportunities before and after the coverage period Recent graduates and experienced optometrists are encouraged to apply.
