Required License/Registration/Certification Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state RN license in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date. Preferred Education/Experience BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience. Additional Requirements Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injuries from patients or sharp instruments may occur. Shift Must be able to work every Saturday & Sunday (3 pm‑3:30 am) as part of the Weekend Premium Pay Plan; will be required to work some holidays. Job Summary The Chandler Emergency Department consists of five areas where care is provided: triage, chair‑centric and express care for low-acuity patients; an acute care area with 16 beds; a critical care area with 8 beds for trauma and intensive care patients; and a UK Level I Trauma Center with 8 beds for complex injuries. This role provides total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care, including assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating nursing plans; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to university policies, federal, state, and local regulations.
