Financial Planning Analyst

The Role We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Financial Planning Analyst to support the company’s financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and decision-making processes. Reporting to the Senior Director of FP&A, this role will work closely with leaders across the organization to analyze business performance, maintain financial models, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable insights. This is a hands-on position designed for a well-rounded FP&A analyst who is comfortable working with detailed financial and operational data and who can connect the dots between information sources. The ideal candidate has strong financial modeling skills, innate curiosity for how the business operates, and the ability to translate complex information into concise recommendations. What You’ll Do Support the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasts, and long-range financial planning. Maintain and update detailed financial models, including income statement, cash flow, and operating-expense forecasts. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, including budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analyses. Investigate financial and operational variances and clearly explain the primary drivers of performance. Partner with department leaders to develop budgets, review spending, and improve forecast accuracy. Analyze revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, profitability, and key business performance indicators. Support product, customer, channel, and retailer-level profitability analysis. Develop scenario analyses and financial models to evaluate business initiatives, investments, and strategic decisions. Consolidate financial and operational data from multiple systems and ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and consistent. Create dashboards, management reports, and executive-level presentations that clearly communicate financial performance and business trends. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, forecasting, data integrity, and FP&A processes. Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects requested by the Senior Director of FP&A and executive leadership. Track Finance Department KPIs. Collaborate with Accounting during the monthly close process to ensure financial results are accurately reflected in management reporting. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field. 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or a related analytical role. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Strong understanding of business processes. Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and financial model development. Experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan. Experience working with ERP, planning, business-intelligence, or financial-reporting systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work within established deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Experience in consumer products, apparel, retail, wholesale, or e-commerce is preferred. Experience analyzing inventory, gross margin, customer profitability, or retailer performance is a plus. Success in This Role Produce accurate, timely, and decision-useful financial analyses. Develop a strong understanding of the company’s revenue, margin, and expense drivers. Improve the consistency and reliability of forecasts and management reporting. Proactively identify financial risks, emerging trends, and opportunities. Build credibility with business partners through responsiveness, sound analysis, and clear communication. Bring a hands-on, detail-oriented approach while maintaining an understanding of the broader business.
