Wise Mind Psychotherapy Services

Position Overview

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at Wise Mind Psychotherapy Services will play a pivotal role in delivering empathetic and informed care to individuals experiencing severe emotional disorders and major mental illnesses. This full-time position requires a dedicated clinician who thrives in both virtual settings and community-based environments, bringing specialized knowledge and sensitivity to their practice. The successful candidate will carry a manageable caseload, providing individual and group therapy while working collaboratively to improve client outcomes.

About the Organization

Wise Mind Psychotherapy Services is committed to fostering healthier communities through accessible and patient-centered healthcare. Operating from Chesapeake, Virginia, we serve populations in medically under-served areas and ensure that all clients receive compassionate care, irrespective of their ability to pay. Our vision is to establish a benchmark for community health centers, placing high importance on our mission and values that guide our daily operations.

Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, offering the flexibility to work from home while maintaining a collaborative connection with team members and clients. The clinician will also have the opportunity to engage with clients directly within the community, particularly in settings such as hospice care facilities. This dual approach enables a comprehensive understanding of clients’ needs, thus providing richer therapeutic support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and screenings that are evidence-based and developmentally appropriate to create accurate diagnostic impressions.

  • Engage in collaborative discussions with team members to establish shared goals and responsibilities, emphasizing teamwork and collective success.
  • Be proactive in identifying and addressing safety concerns while reporting incidents appropriately.
  • Serve as an educational resource for clients and families, guiding them through the service systems and linked resources.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary patient population includes individuals grappling with major mental illnesses and severe emotional challenges. Many clients may come from diverse and under-resourced backgrounds, necessitating a responsive and culturally-sensitive approach. It is essential that the LCSW not only addresses clinical symptoms but also advocates for systemic resources to enhance the overall well-being of clients.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field is required.
  • Must hold a valid LCSW license in the state of Virginia.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical social work setting, preferably within mental health or counseling environments.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within team settings.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams effectively.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in hospice or palliative care settings is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with integrated care models and interdisciplinary approaches is highly valued.
  • Skills in conducting thorough psychological assessments and formulating treatment strategies are preferred.
