This role is highly focused on hands-on manufacturing engineering and daily support of production operations.The Manufacturing Engineer will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, working closely with operators and maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve processes, and ensure reliable production performance. This individual will also support small to mid-sized capital projects, including equipment upgrades and process improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Support & TroubleshootingProvide daily, hands-on support to production lines, working directly with operators and maintenance to resolve equipment and process issuesTroubleshoot mechanical systems, tooling, and equipment to minimize downtime and restore production quicklyServe as a key resource for real-time problem solving on the manufacturing floorEquipment & Mechanical Systems OwnershipSupport the reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment and mechanical systemsDesign, modify, or source fixtures, tooling, and equipment improvements to enhance safety, ergonomics, and efficiencyPartner with maintenance to identify root causes of failures and implement long-term corrective actionsContinuous ImprovementDrive improvements to reduce downtime, improve throughput, and lower production costsApply practical Lean and continuous improvement principles to optimize processesIdentify and eliminate non-value-added activities within manufacturing operationsCapital Projects & Equipment ImprovementsSupport and lead smaller-scale capital projects (typically under $1M), including equipment upgrades, line improvements, and process changesAssist with installation, validation, and ramp-up of equipment and process improvementsCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues and implement solutionsSupport new product introductions by ensuring designs can be effectively manufacturedCommunicate clearly with stakeholders to drive alignment and timely executionRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical strongly preferred) or equivalent hands-on experience5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environmentStrong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExperience working directly on the manufacturing floor with operators and maintenance teamsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematicsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and execute in a fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, or automation systemsExposure to capital projects or equipment upgradesBackground in metal stamping, fabrication, or assembly processesWorking knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologiesCAD experience (interpretation required; design experience is a plus)Work EnvironmentApproximately 70% of time on the manufacturing floor, 30% at a workstationOccasional overtime may be required to support production needsMinimal travel (<5%)#LI-MC2Newell Brands (NASDAQ: NWL) is a leading global consumer goods company with a strong portfolio of well-known brands, including Rubbermaid, Sharpie, Graco, Coleman, Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Yankee Candle, Paper Mate, FoodSaver, Dymo, EXPO, Elmer’s, Oster, NUK, Spontex and Campingaz.
