Job Description
Procedures performed on unit: Chest tube management, Foleys, IV therapy, NG Tube , basic medical surgical nursing
• Number of Beds :24
• Patient Ratios :1:6
• Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability.) 2 CNA typically 12-16 patients. Assist with ADL's, vital signs, glucose checks or any task non-invasive. Nurses do primary care with 10 or less patients.
• Type of equipment : Alaris Infusion Pump, Iphone- Imobile technology, electronic white boards
• Documentation system: Meditech-EBCD documentation
• Scheduling requirements: Will assist in covering the needs of the unit. Rotating every other weekend.
• Floating policy: Contract labor is first to float.
• Patient Experience requirements: Hourly rounding, AIDET, Never introduce as a traveler. You are an employee of Capital Regional Medical Center and we are dedicated to the care and improvement of human life. No passing call lights. Everyone works as a Team.
• Unit Operations - The Observation/CDU Unit provide patient care 24 hours per day, 7 days a week for observation status patients. Typically, these patients have a 24-48hr stay. If patients do not meet criteria of the unit or becomes an inpatient, patients will be transferred to another medical unit.
