Speech and Language Pathologist

BOURNE PUBLIC SCHOOLS Speech and Language Job Description JD95 Reports to: Director of Special Education and Student Services/Principals Job Goal: To provide therapeutic services to identified students exhibiting communication and/or hearing impairments in order to develop receptive and expressive language skills Responsibilities: 1. Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice. 2. Develop, implement and coordinate speech-language services within the Bourne Public School community. 3. Evaluate students using appropriate tests, skilled professional observation and supplementary information provided by collaterals as appropriate. 4. Interpret assessment findings and appropriately convey information to parents and school teams. 5. Participate with the school team to develop Individualized Education Programs and Section 504 Plans. 6. Develop and implement speech and language interventions and treatment strategies and maintain data with fidelity. 7. Complete medical billing documentation 8. Evaluate and report on student progress. 9. Communicate and consult with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community, and other professionals. 10. Serve as a resource to parents, school team, staff and administration on varying disability categories and their effects on student access to an education. 11. Participate with improving school accessibility and planning environmental modification. 12. Maintain student service, administrative and other departmental records in accordance with professional license, school district procedures and policies, and state and federal regulations. 13. Procure, maintain and inventory equipment, materials, and supplies purchased by the district for speech-language related services. Essential Functions of the Job: 1. Maintain a record of regular attendance, arrive and depart at specified contractual times and notify the appropriate personnel when absent 2. Physical agility and strength to perform job related tasks appropriate for the age and/or grade level 3. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and run 4. Be able to occasionally lift and/or move students/objects 5. Must be able to work in a noisy, stressful, high pressure environment and maintain student safety 6. Ability to respond to emergency situations 7. May be exposed to bodily fluids including saliva, urine, feces, vomit, blood, and/or other bodily fluids 8. May be required to assist with student personal hygiene and toileting 9. Ability to complete district approved de-escalation and safety training 10. Ensure confidentiality regarding all personal information and educational records concerning students and their families 11. Maintain professional boundaries with students and families 12. Participate, complete, and adhere to all district wide mandatory trainings, including but not limited to confidentiality, civil rights, conflict of interest, technology use, and security requirements 13. Continually pursue professional training to keep skills current, participate in in-service training, programs, attend courses, attend department meetings, etc. 14.
