Water Treatment Leader (Atlanta Market)

Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for an Atlanta-Area Drinking Water Leader to help grow our drinking water practice and deliver exceptional service to our well-established drinking water and reuse clients.The Atlanta-Area Drinking Water Leader will be responsible for understanding the unique trends in the area and using that knowledge to create technical differentiation from our competitors while serving as an important conduit between the National Practice Leaders, Specialty Leaders, and the practice staff in the Business Unit. This candidate will help lead strategic drinking water projects to support respective teams in pursuits, execution, design and construction. This individual will also support the growth of the Drinking Water Practice at Brown and Caldwell by serving in capacities such as Client Service Manager and Project Manager for key clients. The ideal candidate should be a strong leader, with the ability to drive projects and pursuits forward while working with a high-functioning team. Our successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude; will be flexible and self-motivated, creative, quality-oriented with attention to detail and will be accountable for this specialty’s growth and operation. The ideal candidate will be highly involved and engaged in the drinking water industry and familiar with local Atlanta clients. Responsibilities Lead and execute complex technical analyses and engineering design efforts. Prepare, review, and approve advanced technical reports and engineering deliverables. Develop and design environmental protection systems and infrastructure for complex projects. Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs. Strategic Client Focus Coordinate growth activities related to drinking water and reuse in the Atlanta area. Understand area market potential, drivers, and technical challenges. This will include helping Area Managers, Local Leaders, and CSMs develop business plans (sales, revenue, and investments) and set priorities for the practice area. Inform development of Business Unit technical focus working with the Area Manager, Local Leaders, Client Service Managers/Teams and practice members to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the Practice and geographic area. Develop connectivity and collaboration between affiliated staff in the area / region Collaborate with National Practice and Innovation Leaders to support connection of technical differentiators, innovative solutions and R&D for clients and advance goals set for your area or region by business and practice leadership. Partner with Specialty Leaders to ensure Subject Matter Specialists are developed and assigned to ensure quality delivery and appropriate governance Act as sales leader for strategic pursuits or CSM for new strategic clients in the area as needed. Understand our competition in terms of strategic direction of their approach to the regional practice area, and their technical focus, staff, strengths, and weaknesses. Equip business units with winning technical strategies. Work to build capacity to deliver on business unit strategic goals for capturing and delivering work related to the specialty and area. Mentorship Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles. Skills and Competencies Advanced expertise in drinking water principles, practices, and regulations Ability to solve complex, ambiguous technical problems Strong judgment in applying engineering standards and best practices Effective leadership and communication skills within technical teams. Experience Typically, a minimum of 10 years of related work experience in Environmental Engineering or related field Typically, will become certified in BC's SMS (Subject Matter Specialist) Framework and progress through the SMS competencies. Education A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field is required. PE license and ability to acquire licensure in Georgia is required. Preferred Experience Master’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Biological, or Environmental). Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience as a water treatment design Engineer. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management and client service management. Experience in project and sub-consultant management. Strong leadership skills and high emotional intelligence. Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work well independently, and in both in-person and remote team environments. Experience in Design-Build project delivery. Be willing and able to travel, up to 30% of the time. These ranges may be modified in the future.
