Job Description The Field Access Director (FAD) is a field-based, individual contributor role with primary accountability for patient access and reimbursement across Ipsen’s US Rare Disease portfolio. The FAD is the central point of contact in the patient access ecosystem, coordinating across the Ipsen CARES hub, limited specialty pharmacy network and sales layer to remove barriers and support pull‑through for appropriate patients. This role requires deep expertise in payer policy, prior authorization, denials and appeals, billing and coding, limited distribution and formulary dynamics across commercial, Medicare Part D and Medicaid channels. Responsibilities Patient Access & Pull‑Through Ensure access pull‑through for all Ipsen Rare Disease therapies by proactively educating HCPs, office staff and specialty pharmacy partners on coverage requirements, payer policies, prior authorization pathways and out‑of‑pocket costs. Identify and resolve access barriers for individual patients (preauthorization, step therapy, denials, appeals and affordability challenges). Support enrollment in Ipsen patient support programs and work with Patient Access Managers to resolve complex cases. Communicate available distribution options, including the limited specialty pharmacy network and site‑of‑care alternatives, to HCPs, hospitals and integrated delivery networks. Monitor formulary positioning and proactively communicate unexpected changes to the payer team. Account Management & Stakeholder Engagement Develop and maintain structured communication channels with key stakeholders (providers, office staff, financial counselors and specialty pharmacies). Prioritize high‑impact accounts and allocate time accordingly. Engage in in‑person and virtual education on access, reimbursement, billing and coding topics. Support patient access across account types: private practices, hospitals, academic institutions, thought leaders, patient advocates, and regional/state society advocates. Represent the Rare Disease Value & Access team at conferences and events. Hub & Specialty Pharmacy Collaboration Serve as primary field liaison to the Ipsen CARES Patient Support Hub and raise provider awareness of hub capabilities. Collaborate with specialty pharmacies and the CSS layer to ensure seamless onboarding, timely drug access, prescription renewals and refill continuity. Use CRM and data portal tools to monitor high‑need cases, identify bottlenecks and coordinate resolutions. Identify stages in the patient journey causing delays and partner with hub and internal stakeholders for proactive resolution. Payer Intelligence & Field Insights Provide local and regional payer coverage policy and benefit design insights to internal teams. Advise on reimbursement trends and unexpected payer barriers. Support strategic analysis and escalation to the payer team for formulary, Medicare Part D and other coverage changes. Conduct pulse‑check engagement with accounts to monitor perceptions and surface competitive intelligence. Deliver field insight reports and access trend updates to V&A leadership and brand and sales teams. Cross‑Functional Leadership & Field Operations Lead without authority across the Ipsen field ecosystem, aligning sales, Trade, Medical Affairs, and Compliance. Assist in developing access‑related strategies, tactics, tools and field materials. Support training programs for HCPs, administrative staff and internal field teams. Achieve target metrics on case response, account coverage and field activity reporting. Coordinate Ipsen presentations at pharmacy and healthcare conferences. Qualifications Education / Certifications Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree (MBA, MPH, MHA) preferred. Clinical degree (PharmD, RN, PA, NP) a plus. Experience Minimum 10 years in BioPharma industry with at least 6 years of direct field access and reimbursement experience for bachelor’s level. Minimum 8 years in BioPharma industry with at least 5 years of direct field access and reimbursement experience for master’s or clinical degree. Experience in product marketing, managed care marketing, field sales or similar functions preferred. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals. Experience in completing and implementing attainable business plans. Knowledge of external laws, codes and company policies that apply to healthcare. Rare disease access and reimbursement experience required; pediatric rare disease experience strongly preferred. Profound proficiency in provider and payer access issues; specialty pharmacy and hub experience. Expert knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare Part D benefit structure (IRA, M3P, catastrophic phases) and Medicaid coverage policies. Experience with specialty‑specific billing and coding (J‑code, NDC‑level billing, site‑of‑care reimbursement). Experience supporting or launching a new specialty pharmaceutical, biologic or rare disease product. Familiarity with CRM, case management and analytics tools. Understanding of patient privacy, support program and access regulations. Key Technical Competencies Ability to orchestrate patient access across a complex, matrixed ecosystem without direct authority. Translate complex payer and coverage policy into actionable, compliant guidance. Strong account prioritization and territory management skills. Data‑driven approach using CRM and field access technology platforms. Integrity, compliance, judgment and discretion. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Self‑priority and ability to manage a varied workload independently. PC literacy: MS Office, CRM platforms, mobile technology. Travel Business travel up to 75–80% by air/car. Ability to maintain extensive overnight travel across a large geographic territory. Must reside in the Northeast region for consideration. Compensation & Benefits Annual base salary range: $165,000 – $235,000. Eligible for short‑term incentives program.
