POSITION SUMMARY

Perform preventive and regular maintenance and repairs to all areas of the hotel. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized maintenance shop and for the security of hotel inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures and equipment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for employees. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve employee performance.
• Educate and train all employees in compliance with governmental and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests.
• Understand and respond to customers' needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
• Carryout preventive maintenance program to ensure facility is maintained and in service for our guests (example: lighting, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning, water treatment systems and pools).
• Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimizing waste and maintaining 'green' initiatives.
• May be responsible for hotel security to minimize risk of theft, crime and other hazards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education & Experience: High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.

• Must be able to handle a crisis in a calm, effective manner. This includes upset guests, fire, tornado, armed robbery and assault, bomb threats and accidents.

• Must have good understanding of the English language.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Some training in Hospitality Industry.

• Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays, and weekends.
• May require: Valid Driver's License, Certified Pool Operator and HVAC certificates and or licenses depending on business unit.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to handle, grasp or type. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or twist; talk or hear; and to push, pull or lift over 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• All employees must follow proper safety precautions at all times to avoid injuries.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, volume, basic weight and decimals.
