Professional conduct must align with the Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant. The Physical Therapist Assistant may assist in various settings, including Acute Care and Rehabilitation. Key skills include communication, initiative, listening, and general knowledge of PT/OT/ST as a profession. Leadership and timeliness are also essential for effective performance. Physical demands involve standing, walking, kneeling, bending, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Supportive patient care activities are common and may include talking, listening, and handling various equipment. Near visual acuity and hand-eye coordination are necessary for appropriate job performance. There is potential exposure to animals in the work environment.
