Test Technician
We are seeking a skilled Test Technician responsible for electronics and mechanical assembly duties, computer configuration, and documentation tasks. This role involves assembling, testing, and maintaining complex electronic systems and supporting the engineering team in creating technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assemble 19" rack systems with embedded computers and RF instrumentation.
- Assemble box instruments and front panels.
- Assemble prototype instruments, including occasional soldering and circuit board assembly.
- Test assembled instruments in both prototype and final shipping configurations.
- Maintain and organize the work area.
- Perform shipping and receiving operations as needed.
- Deploy and configure Windows operating systems on instrumentation products using standard IT industry tools.
- Assemble, configure, and test high-speed disk systems.
- Develop scripts and configuration files to automate deployment processes.
- Maintain company inventory records and parts database using MRP software.
- Track manufacturing job progress using MRP software.
- Create and maintain assembly instructions and photos for company products.
- Assist engineering in creating block diagrams, wire run lists, schematics, and related documentation.
- Assist engineering in creating user documentation and help files for instrumentation products.
- Assist engineering in researching mechanical and electronic parts for future designs.
- Assist engineering in designing simple mechanical parts such as instrument front panels using CAD software.
- Interface with parts vendors and suppliers.
- Use internal test tools to automate instrument testing.
- Extend and improve manufacturing test software written in LabVIEW, Python, and C#.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in assembly, troubleshooting, and mechanical and electronic assembly.
- Experience with hand tools and test equipment.
- Ability to work independently and under limited supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with MRP software and CAD tools.
- Familiarity with scripting and configuration file development.
- Knowledge of LabVIEW, Python, and C# programming languages.
- Capability to assist in customer support, field service, technical marketing, and software development.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dumfries, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
