CDL Heavy Equipment Operator

Department: Operations / Field Services / Construction Reports To: Site Supervisor / Foreman / Operations Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: M idland, TX Job Summary The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery to support construction, maintenance, or utility work. This role includes equipment inspection, safe operation, basic maintenance, and supporting the crew with general labor tasks as needed. Operators must follow all company safety policies and comply with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as [e.g., excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steering loader, forklifts, wheelloaders, dozers etc.] in a safe and productive manner. Perform pre-operational checks and daily equipment inspections to ensure equipment is in safe working condition. Follow work site plans and instructions from supervisors. Load, move, and grade earth or materials as directed. Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas. Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisor immediately. Assist with manual labor tasks when equipment is not in use. Adhere to safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Operate equipment in various weather conditions and terrain types. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating heavy equipment (or relevant training/certification). Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or may be required for specific equipment. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must pass a pre-employment drug test and have a clear driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Preferred Qualifications Certification or training from a recognized heavy equipment training program. Experience working with heavy equipment in an oil and gas setting. Working Conditions Outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Exposure to noise, dust, mud, and heavy equipment. May require overtime, nights, or weekend shifts depending on project needs. Pre-Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check, and pre-employment drug screening, and breath alcohol test (BAT).
