Target Security Specialist

Starting hourly rate: $18.00 USD per hour. About the Role The Assets Protection (AP) team keeps guests, team members and the brand secure by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, and resolving theft and fraud. The Target Security Specialist supports crisis events, de‑escalates situations, and utilizes Target’s video surveillance system and case management systems to ensure a safe and compliant store environment. Key Responsibilities Use intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure. Respond to and document security incidents promptly and accurately. Provide crisis response, safety, and crowd‑management support, including de‑escalation. Conduct merchandise theft recoveries, apprehension support, and procure appropriate documentation in the case management system per AP policies. Perform merchandise receipt checks and communicate trends to prevent theft and shortage at the store front. Promote a security culture by assessing and maintaining safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property. Assist guests and staff, creating a friendly and inspiring guest experience through greeting, assistance, and courteous transaction closure. Work safely, comply with all safety policies and training, and report hazards promptly. Support other store functions as needed, based on business demands. Required Qualifications Minimum age of 18 years. High‑school diploma or equivalent. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed. Effective communication skills, able to work independently and with a team. Capability to prioritize tasks, remain focused, and compose in a fast‑paced environment. Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 40 pounds, work in varying temperatures and humidity, and remain mobile throughout a shift. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays and peak shopping times. Understanding of Target’s video surveillance system and compliance with all security policies.
