Maintenance Mechanic I – 3rd Shift (10p-6a) Location: Mount Sterling, OH Work Type: On Site Job Summary: Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining production and packaging equipment to ensure optimal efficiency and minimal scrap. The role requires high urgency, critical thinking, and strong mechanical aptitude. Essential Job Functions: Perform timely mechanical checks and maintain proper adjustments on all assigned equipment. Follow established cycle settings to ensure production quality with minimal scrap. Comply with all safety rules, policies, procedures and practices, including LOTO of production equipment when required. Evaluate equipment at the start of the shift to maintain consistent production flow. Diagnose and determine causes of machine malfunctions and make troubleshooting adjustments. Respond to buzzers and bells with high urgency to avoid production interruption. Perform quality tests on baggers, packaged products, film, print, etc. every hour and document findings on the inspector checklist. Conduct daily inspector checks to ensure defective products are rejected. Handle film roll changeovers and organize film racks daily. Report to leadership immediately any failure to meet quality standards to trigger corrective action. Maintain a safe and clean work area and equipment at all times. Perform facility repairs within scope for SQF requirements. Execute other duties as assigned by the Production Lead, Supervisor or Plant Manager. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: Two years of maintenance in a manufacturing environment with a sound mechanical aptitude and a high sense of urgency. Skills: Basic computer skills; ability to read, write and speak English; good oral and written communication skills. Physical Demands (Manufacturing Plant) Frequent listening, observing, and information exchange. Use of production equipment and machinery. Move or transport materials up to 50 lbs with frequent bending, twisting, and reaching. Remain stationary or stand for extended periods up to 12‑hour shifts. Near continuous use of hands, arms, and body posture such as stooping, kneeling, crawling, or crouching. Work Environment (Manufacturing Plant) Workspace with moving mechanical parts. Indoor environment exposed to high heat, loud noises, odors, and occasional airborne particles. PPE required: hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses with side guards.
