Senior Art Director - Retail

LHH is currently recruiting for a Senior Art Director for a permanent opportunity with our client in the Dallas area. This role will lead the creative direction and execution of brand, campaign, in-store, and retail design initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, deep experience bringing retail environments and customer experiences to life, and the leadership skills needed to guide creative teams, present concepts, and partner cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, store operations, and external vendors. Previous retail art direction experience is required. This is a hybrid role at our client’s office in the Dallas, TX area. Responsibilities: Lead the creative concepting, design direction, and execution of retail, in-store, and brand marketing initiatives across store signage, displays, seasonal campaigns, merchandising moments, print, digital, and environmental touchpoints. Translate business objectives, customer insights, and brand strategy into compelling creative concepts that drive engagement and enhance the retail customer experience. Provide creative leadership and direction to designers, production artists, freelancers, agencies, and vendor partners to ensure work is on-brand, elevated, and aligned with project goals. Partner closely with marketing, merchandising, visual merchandising, store operations, and leadership teams to develop cohesive retail campaigns and in-store experiences. Guide projects from concept through final execution, including design reviews, presentation development, feedback rounds, production preparation, and final delivery. Maintain brand consistency across all creative materials while identifying opportunities to evolve and elevate the brand’s visual expression. Present creative concepts and rationale to internal stakeholders, clearly articulating design decisions and strategic recommendations. Manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced retail environment while balancing creative quality, speed, and business priorities. Stay current on retail design trends, customer experience trends, visual merchandising best practices, and competitive in-store experiences. Qualifications: 7+ years of art direction, graphic design, retail design, or related creative experience. Prior leadership experience managing, mentoring, or directing creative team members, freelancers, agencies, or cross-functional creative partners. Strong portfolio showcasing in-store retail design, environmental design, signage, visual merchandising, campaign creative, and brand work. Deep understanding of retail environments, customer journeys, store experience, merchandising needs, production considerations, and how creative comes to life in physical spaces. Experience concepting and executing creative for retail campaigns, seasonal programs, promotional moments, store launches, product launches, or similar consumer-facing initiatives. Strong knowledge of print production, vendor management, file preparation, materials, finishes, and execution requirements for in-store and environmental creative. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; experience with Figma or similar tools is a plus. Ability to present ideas clearly, influence stakeholders, and provide thoughtful creative direction and feedback. Must be able to work a hybrid schedule in Dallas, TX. #J-18808-Ljbffr LHH
