Attorney-Adviser (General).

Position Overview As an Attorney‑Adviser (General), you will be responsible for legal advice, research, and support across multiple practice areas. Responsibilities Serve as a legal advisor for ethics, non‑litigation labor & employment, and investigation issues. Work with senior attorneys to research facts and law and prepare legal analysis. Provide advice on ethics and standards of conduct as an agency ethics counselor. Conduct in‑depth legal research of applicable laws, agreements, policies, and precedent cases. Support other practice areas as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required First professional law degree (LLB or J.D.). Licensed and in good standing with the bar of the highest court of a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. For GS‑11 level, at least one year of professional legal experience, a second professional law degree (LL.M.) or superior academic achievements as described below. GS‑11 Level Requirements One year of professional legal experience. Second professional law degree (LL.M.) with one full academic year of graduate study. Superior law‑school work or activities such as placement in the top third of the class, publication in law reviews, moot court honors, or significant summer clerk experience. Principal Selection Factors Experience in legal research, writing opinions, and advising on legal issues (≥1 year). Excellent analytical and issue‑identification skills. Strong oral and written communication abilities. Good legal and business judgment. Effective interpersonal skills and client relationship management. Security Clearance Position requires Non‑Critical Sensitive designation. Selected candidates must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and may be subject to periodic reinvestigation. Conditions of Employment U.S. citizen. Excepted Service position. Tour of Duty: Flexible. Security: Non‑Critical Sensitive with Secret Access.
