SUMMARY

Reports directly to the Director of Facilities. To provide general maintenance support for the District. Essential Functions Installs, maintains and repairs water and sanitary systems, fittings, and fixtures. Cuts openings in walls for pipes; cuts, reams and threads pipe; caulk and wipes joints; pours, spreads, and shapes molten solder over joints; and installs necessary supports, hangers, and foundations for water and sanitary equipment. Repairs and reconditions plumbing installations such as sinks, dishwashers, lavatories, sump pumps, and water waste and vent-lines. Installs, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots water and sewer systems from curb lines to building interiors as well as on boilers, chillers and rooftop A/C units. Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requires a St. Louis County Plumbing License. Minimum of six (6) years of Journeyman level plumbing experience. Graduation from a general or technical high school. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools and equipment of the plumbing trade. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the plumbing trade. Ability to work from sketches and specifications. Ability to observe safety precautions in carrying out assigned tasks. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Skilled in the use of the tools and equipment of the plumbing trade. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop or crouch, kneel, crawl, reach, push, grasp, talk, and hear. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Medium work: exert up to 25 to 70 pounds of force often to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Light work usually requires walking or standing for 7 out of 8 hours per day. Working Conditions and Environment Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment; may have limited or extreme exposure to physical risk.
