Overview

We are seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to support roadway, highway, and bridge construction projects throughout the Lincoln, Nebraska area. This individual will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, documenting field observations, and supporting successful project delivery in coordination with project managers, contractors, and field teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with DOT inspection experience, transportation construction exposure, or civil infrastructure field experience looking to grow within a collaborative engineering and construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Inspection & Field Oversight

• Perform field inspections on transportation construction projects including highways, roadways, bridges, and related infrastructure
• Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and applicable regulations
• Observe construction activities, quantities, materials, and workmanship throughout project execution
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and field personnel regarding inspection findings and project progress
• Identify and document deficiencies, non-conformance issues, or field concerns as needed

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate daily inspection reports, project records, and construction documentation
• Prepare contractor performance reports and inspection summaries
• Track project progress, quantities, and field activities
• Organize and maintain project files and documentation in accordance with company and DOT standards

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with senior inspectors, engineers, and project managers on transportation infrastructure projects
• Support project delivery schedules and quality objectives
• Participate in field meetings and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• One (1) or more years of DOT inspection experience as a Technical Assistant II (TA-2) or higher
  OR
• Two (2) or more years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience
  OR
• Four (4) or more years of highway/bridge construction, civil construction, infrastructure inspection, or transportation design experience
• Valid driver s license with reliable transportation to project sites
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions

Preferred

• NICET Certification
• DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
• NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification
• Experience working on DOT transportation projects
• Familiarity with roadway, bridge, paving, grading, drainage, or utility construction
